Since July 9, 2008 Stuttgart is hosting the United Buddy Bears exhibition. On the Schlossplatz in the heart of the city, the Buddy Bears - designed by 140 artists from all over the world - welcome their visitors "hand in hand". But visitors don´t can see the Buddy Bear from Malaysia.
"We have to get to know each other better ...
... it makes us understand one another better,
trust each other more, and live together more peacefully."
Under this motto, the UNITED BUDDY BEARS promote living together in peace and harmony on their global tour. Around 140 Buddy Bears (each 2 m tall) represent as many countries recognised by the United Nations. Since the first exhibition in Berlin in 2002, more than 17 million visitors world-wide have been able to admire the United Buddy Bears.
The
bear for Malaysia is dressed in a Batik-Suit, patterned after typical
Malaysian motifs: Hibiscus is the national flower, the Hornbill is the
national bird, others include Orchids and Butterflies. Orang-Utan and
the Twin Towers (the largest building in the world in Kuala Lumpur)
symbolize the large scope of tradition and development in this
wonderful country.
